A recent ranking created by Forbes Advisor gives the city of Pittsburgh a perfect score of 100/100 when grading it against the 100 largest US cities for being among the best cities to purchase an affordable home.
The rankings considered elements such as affordability, housing inventory and lifestyle factors to determine each city’s score and ranking.
Forbes Advisors noted that Pittsburgh has the 19th lowest median home price at $236,067, as well as low housing costs, spending 14.8 percent of their income on home-related expenses. The city also ranks 5th for listings per 100,000 households. Beyond its affordability, Pittsburgh offers a rich tapestry of cultural attractions, dining options, and outdoor activities. It also features a thriving arts and culture scene, easy access to outdoor recreation and high quality public schools.
Other highly ranked cities included Buffalo, NY; Fort Wayne, IN; Indianapolis, IN; Louisville, KY; Lexington, KY; Oklahoma City, OK; Huntsville, AL; Omaha, NE; and El Paso, TX.
